Cornerstone: Learning & Literacy

How We Work to Design Success for Every Student

Our promise in Bonneville School District 93 is to design success for every student. We do that by working as a Professional Learning Community (PLC). In a PLC, teachers plan and problem-solve together around four practical questions: What do we want students to learn? How will we know they’ve learned it? What will we do when a student needs more time and support? How will we extend learning for students who are ready for more? Using common check-ins and real-time results, teams adjust instruction, provide targeted help, and offer meaningful extensions so every child can master the essential outcomes.
Teachers can’t do all of that important work during the regular school day. That’s why we have our Monday schedule. To provide teachers time to collaborate and review student learning, elementary students do not attend classes on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month. At our middle and high schools, Mondays include a half-day on campus for intervention and support, with extended learning opportunities at home for students who have already demonstrated mastery of the week’s learning objectives. These structures give teachers the time to work together and give students the additional time and support they may need to succeed—skill by skill, course by course, and grade by grade.

Thank you for partnering with us as we live our cornerstones—integrity, teamwork, positivity, and a relentless focus on learning—to design success for every student.

Falls Valley Elementary Celebrates Ribbon Cutting 🎀

Bonneville Joint School District 93 hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony at Falls Valley Elementary on to celebrate the school’s newly renovated entryway.
The project features a redesigned entry flow and a single-point access system that will significantly improve student and staff safety. Thanks to funding from House Bill 521 (School Modernization), these upgrades were completed without requiring a local bond or levy.

Superintendent Dr. Scott Woolstenhulme, Board Chair Paul Jenkins, Principal Tina Orme, and members of the D93 Board of Trustees joined staff, community members, and project partners to mark the occasion. The event concluded with an official ribbon cutting and opportunities for photos and community celebration.

Ribbon Cutting Scheduled at Bonneville High School

US Senate Program for 11th and 12th Grade Students

The United States Youth Senate Program (USSYP) is a prestigious initiative that empowers young leaders to become active, informed, and engaged citizens. Selected students will not only receive a $10,000 scholarship for undergraduate studies, but will also earn the extraordinary opportunity to represent Idaho as one of two student delegates in Washington, D.C. This all-expenses-paid trip offers firsthand insight into the workings of our national government, including meetings with Senators, cabinet members, and a Supreme Court Justice. From Lost to Loved: A Continuous Coat Swap
Last spring, hundreds of unclaimed coats from schools across District 93 were gathered and saved for a special purpose. Through the From Lost to Loved program, these coats are now being given new life by helping students in need stay warm this winter.
If you know of a student without a warm winter coat, requests can easily be submitted using the QR code provided. The Bonneville Education Foundation will deliver a coat directly to the student’s school, ensuring no child goes without warmth this season.
Together, we can turn lost into loved—and keep our students cozy all winter long!
