The Longer, More Challenging Journey

Shortcuts are tempting. And the busier we get, the more tempting they become. But there’s always a tradeoff when we give in.

When we have a packed agenda, it’s easy to skip reviewing team norms. When time is tight, we might wish someone would just tell us the essential standards so we don’t have to wrestle through the discussion. Ready-made assessments would be a lot easier than creating them together. But when we take those shortcuts, we miss the whole point: the process matters far more than the product.

Because in the end, it’s not really about the list of standards or the assessment questions. It’s about our professional learning and growth. It’s about deepening shared ownership for student learning. It’s about the shared understanding and collective efficacy we build when we have meaningful conversations about what matters most for our kids.

Thank you for the time you spend doing the real work together - deepening your understanding, strengthening your collaboration, and building your team’s capacity. That’s what makes the longer, more challenging journey worth it.

Teacher Transfers and Job Postings

Thank you to our teachers and principals for the significant work you’ve done to thoughtfully balance staffing in preparation for the opening of Willow Creek, the closure of Ammon, and the upcoming elementary boundary changes for next school year. Your collaboration and flexibility throughout this process have been greatly appreciated.
We have now completed the necessary certified transfers to balance our schools for next year. Beginning tomorrow, all remaining certified positions will be posted on the district website.
Please note that the School Board approved Resolution for Certified Transfers for the 2026–2027 School Year has now expired with all current teachers on Category 2, Category 3, or Continuing Contracts having been placed for next school year. Moving forward, any additional requests for school changes will follow School Board Policy 5040 – Transfers of Certificated Employees.

  • Current certified employees should complete the Internal Candidate Application.
  • Certified employees on a Category 1 contract should complete the External Candidate Application.

New Stipend Requests

As outlined in the Master Agreement, requests for stipend adjustments must be submitted by Monday, March 2 in order to be considered for the upcoming school year.

If you would like to propose a new stipend to be added to the Master Agreement or request an adjustment to an existing stipend, please complete the request using the link below.

Dyslexia Course for Recertification

There has been some confusion from when the Dyslexia law passed in 2022. There were 2 pieces to the law. The first part to the law was that all educators would receive training in dyslexia. Educators participated in a 1-hour and 3-hour dyslexia Zoom meeting. That Zoom meeting does not work for recertification. The 2nd piece to the law was a dyslexia course for recertification. For recertification the course has to be a 1 credit/15 hour course. It can either be college transcribed or put on a B7 form. If a teacher has participated in Phonics First or Structures training within the 5 years of their recertification cycle, that could count. Below is some guidance from the Idaho State Department of Education.

Who Must Complete This Requirement  

The dyslexia one-credit PD requirement applies to instructional staff, administrators, and pupil personnel with specific endorsements listed below. 
  • If you do not hold the following endorsements, you do not need to meet this requirement.
  • K-8 All Subjects 
  • Exceptional Child Education 
  • Blended Early Childhood/Early Childhood Special Education 
  • Administrators serving students from kindergarten through grade 5 at the time of renewal. 
  • School Counselors serving students from kindergarten through grade 5 at the time of renewal.

Dyslexia Credit Requirement Starts in 2025 Starting in 2025, anyone renewing their certificate in 2025 or later who falls under this requirement must have completed the dyslexia PD credit to renew their certificate.

Special Cases For school counselors and administrators, this requirement only applies if their current assignments involve serving K-5 students at the time of their certificate renewal. During the renewal process, the Idaho State Department of Education will verify everyone’s assignment to determine whether this requirement applies.

Important Update - Accessing Your 1095-C Tax Form

There has been a change in how Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax forms are distributed. Under updated IRS furnishing guidelines, Form 1095-C will not be automatically mailed to employees unless a copy is requested. This form is only for individuals who were eligible for medical benefits in 2025.

This form provides information about your employer-sponsored health coverage offered to you during the calendar year. While many individuals no longer need this form to file their federal tax returns, it remains available upon request if you wish to retain it with your tax records. Requested forms will be provided within 30 days of the request or by January 31 of the year following the calendar year to which the form relates, whichever is later, as required by applicable IRS regulations.

Teacher Research Opportunity: Share Your Voice on Collaboration

Kathi Wright, a doctoral learner at Grand Canyon University, is conducting a study on how general education teachers collaborate and share knowledge with other professionals in Eastern Idaho.

She is seeking gen ed teachers who have taught at least one year in our district. Participation includes a brief demographic survey and a 60-minute recorded interview. Kathi will schedule a time and location convenient for you .

At D93, we know service doesn’t have to be complicated. It can look like:
  • Donating used books or clothing
  • Helping take in a neighbor’s garbage bins
  • Picking up trash along a trail
  • Offering encouragement to a colleague
  • Supporting a student who needs a little extra care
Does it count? Yes.
As a district, we are committed to modeling kindness through action. When D93 students and staff serve others — in our schools, in our neighborhoods, and throughout our community — we strengthen not only those around us, but the culture of who we are.

This week we’re spotlighting Mr. Anderson’s Aviation Class at Thunder Ridge — one of the most sought-after electives in D93.

After a 30-year Air Force career, Mr. Anderson helped launch the program in 2023, and it’s been soaring ever since. From rigorous coursework to the coveted “Top Gun Award,” this is no easy A.

For students like Brant, it’s a runway toward a private pilot’s license — and maybe even a future in aviation.

Cloverdale 3rd Graders Named Idaho READBowl Champions 📚🏆

Ms. Nielsen’s 3rd grade class at Cloverdale Elementary participated in the global READBowl challenge in January, a literacy competition founded by former NFL and Super Bowl Champion Malcolm Mitchell.
Over four weeks, students tracked their in-school and at-home reading minutes, logging an incredible 75,603 total minutes — nearly 3,600 minutes per student. Their hard work earned them the title of Idaho State Champions!
Reading and literacy are cornerstones of D93, and we couldn’t be prouder of these dedicated students and their families for making reading a priority. 💙📖

Registration is now open for the Greater Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce 4th of July Parade — and this year’s celebration will be especially meaningful as we mark 250 years as a nation.
