Family Update - August 6, 2026

I hope your family has had a wonderful summer. For my family, this summer has brought a lot of changes. My two oldest daughters stayed in Provo this year--the first time they haven’t come home for summer break. Sophie, my middle child, left in July to attend boot camp at Fort Benning, Georgia for the Idaho Army National Guard. These life changes are good, but they aren’t always easy. And it has made us even more grateful to still have our last two kids at home with us for a few more years.

Speaking of life changes, this year’s return to school will also bring a significant change for many families. Because of the boundary adjustments approved last year, some students will attend a different school than they did previously. We know changing schools can bring mixed emotions. Students may be excited to meet new teachers and classmates while also feeling nervous about leaving familiar faces and routines.

I can promise that our teachers, principals, and support staff are excited to welcome students back. Whether students are new to a school or have attended there for years, our teams are committed to making every student and family feel welcomed, supported, and connected. We want every student to know they belong in D93.

Before school starts on August 31st, will you please take a few minutes to double-check which school your child will attend? You can do this by clicking the map to the left (or going to d93.org/boundarymap) or the buttons below for our school bus route lookup tool. Please don’t assume your child’s school assignment is the same as last year. Additional information about registration, transportation, back-to-school events, and the first day of school will follow.

Thank you to our families and community for the patience, support, and thoughtful feedback you shared during last year’s budget reductions and boundary changes. We are so grateful for our local community support to continue to fund PE and music in elementary schools, our GATE program, all-day kindergarten and many other opportunities for our students. We know those decisions weren’t easy, and we’re grateful for your continued commitment to our students and schools.

We are excited about the new school year and the positve changes ahead for our kids. We appreciate the trust you place in us to educate and care for your children. We are excited to welcome them back, but in the meantime, please enjoy the last few weeks of summer as a family. It goes too fast.

As we shared in July, we are implementing a new transportation routing system that will provide more accurate route information, improved communication, and real-time GPS tracking for families.

Our transportation team will present bus routes to the School Board on Wednesday, including bus stops, and estimated pick-up and drop-off times. Families do not need to register separately for bus service, but they should use the School Bus Lookup Tool before school starts to confirm their child’s route and stop information.

We appreciate your patience as we complete this transition. Bus information will be available before the first day of school.

Beginning August 10th, school secretaries will be back and ready to assist families.

Elementary Registration: Student registration is available online at www.d93schools.org/registration. If you prefer to register in person or need assistance, you are welcome to visit your child’s school.

Kindergarten Registration: You will need to upload your child’s birth certificate, immunization record, and proof of residency. To be eligible for kindergarten, your child must turn 5 years old on or before September 1, 2026.

Ammon Honors Academy - There is not a designated registration day. Families who need assistance with schedules, payments, or required documentation are welcome to visit the school office on the following dates:

Student pictures and locker assignments will take place after school begins.

Black Canyon MS - Registration can be completed entirely online. Parents who need assistance with the registration process are welcome to visit the school for help. Student pictures and ID cards will be taken on September 3, and ID cards will be distributed through Advisory once they are available.

  

Rocky Mountain MS - Registration is completed online. While there is no designated in-person registration day, school staff are available during regular workdays to assist families who need help. Walk-ins are welcome.

Sandcreek MS - Sandcreek Middle School registration will be completed entirely online. Families who are new to the district or need assistance with the registration process are welcome to stop by the school for help. Students will receive their class schedules and locker information during Back-to-School Night on August 24. Picture Day is scheduled for September 3, and student ID/activity cards are expected to be distributed the following week.

Bonneville HS - Registration begins August 18. Families may pay fees online through PowerSchool, including parking permits, pay-to-play fees, Chromebook protection, and activity cards. Please bring a copy of your payment receipt when picking up locker codes, parking permits, and other materials beginning August 18. School pictures will be taken Friday, September 4.

Hillcrest HS - Registration is completed primarily online, so they will not have designated registration days. Families who need assistance may visit the school August 18–21 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Counselors and office staff will be available to answer questions, assist with schedules, and provide registration support. Administrators will be available Tuesday through Thursday.

Student pictures will be taken after school begins. 

Lincoln HS - Online registration is available; however, both the parent and student must visit Lincoln High School to complete additional required paperwork.

Registration assistance is available:

Thunder Ridge High School: There is no designated registration day. Families may register online or in person. Student pictures and locker assignments will take place after school begins

With the opening of a new school and updated boundaries, the district has worked carefully to design a schedule that supports safe, efficient transportation and consistent school routines for students and families.

The updated schedule streamlines elementary start times into three groups, replacing a wider range of start times currently in place. This adjustment allows for improved bus routing and provides drivers with additional time between routes, helping ensure students arrive safely and on time despite increased traffic and growing enrollment.

These changes were developed through collaboration with school leaders and transportation staff, with careful consideration given to instructional time requirements, traffic patterns, and the complexity of running multiple bus routes each day.

While adjustments like these can take time for families to adapt to, the goal remains clear: providing a safe, reliable, and efficient schedule that supports student learning across D93.
